The Go Pro Hero 3 is a fairly new piece of technology as far as I know. Its reputation proceeds it however. I wanted to purchase one after hearing of it’s beautiful wide shots ad versatile nature. I’ve been looking for a way to capture HD video without much fuss. Hence the Go Pro now in my hands. Does versatility mean more accessible or just kind average? Here’s the good, the bad, and the ugly about this camera.
What’s good about the GoPro3 White? This camera is hilariously small. I actually was very surprised looking at it. It’s design is sleek and small, which speaks to its strengths. The GoPro was built to be put in different sets of housing that can be mounted on your car, canoe, desktop, skateboard, helicopter, and whatever else you can think of. And, the video footage recorded is very crisp, especially in natural light. You can also easily put it on your computer without having to install invasive software. Lastly, it has easily noticeable blinking lights which will remind you to turn it off but the battery is sizable either way.
What’s bad about the GoPro3 White? Two big things bother me about this camera. The way its marketed is a totally obvious ploy to get you to spend more money on the black edition. Go look at this page pro! Notice that the only difference between the white and silver edition is the mega pixel size/frames per second. While I don’t think But the jump between silver to black is tremendous. You receive a SO much more if you just make the big investment. Which kinda makes me feel like my purchase was settling. The on board mic sucks. (Pretty camera standard)
What’s ugly about the GoPro3 White? Very simply put, nothing. While I don’t love the mp difference to price ratio, the pictures and video footage this camera can capture are so vivid it shocked me the first time I saw it. I was very impressed! But I also feel like this camera is a vacuum cleaner. Do you remember when vacuum commercials used to tout about all of their attachments? That’s definitely one feeling I get from this camera. It can handle different situations and scenarios! As long as you own the right, housings, mounts, an LCD screen, wrist straps, and other mounts, again.
